Boost for property prices as Bulgaria
moves closer to EU accession in 2007

Confirmation that Bulgaria can join the EU next year is set to boost property prices in the country, especially along the popular Black Sea coast.

A report by the European Commission published today (Tuesday, May 16) says that Bulgaria - along with neighbouring Romania - will join the EU next year as long as some final conditions are met.

EU leaders are now expected to confirm the exact date that Bulgaria will be admitted to the Union at a conference in October.

Stephen Dainty, managing director of HHB Holiday Homes, a UK-based property developer which builds and sells apartments in the prestigious Golden Sands resort on the Black Sea, has welcomed the news.

He says: “This is great news for people who are looking to invest in Bulgaria. The evidence from other countries which have joined the EU in recent years is that property prices rise after accession. Being in the EU will give country a much bigger profile and will help attract even more investment.

“HHB itself is one of the largest developers in the region and has invested 1.4million Euros in the development of Golden Sands and this figure will rise dramatically over the coming years.”

“The Black Sea Coast - and Golden Sands in particular - has beautiful beaches, sophisticated cuisine, great cultural attractions and wonderful natural resources such as the mineral water springs.

“Golden Sands is just a few miles north of Varna and is recognised as the most sophisticated resort on the coast. This means it is likely to do well as prices rise and show good capital appreciation. The international airport at Varna has direct flights from London and many regional airports across the UK.

“Property prices in Golden Sands have already been rising as more and more people have discovered the area and EU membership means that this will continue.”

HHB Holiday Homes is marketing a number of prestigious developments in Golden Sands, including:

Palma Court - A range of apartments just a few minutes from the beaches, bars and restaurants of Golden Sands.

The complex is due to be finished in January 2007 and will include a sauna and fitness room, landscaped gardens and a swimming bath plus sun-bathing terrace. Prices start at £49,995 for a two-bedroom apartment.

Spring Court is also close to the beach and is a small development of 14 apartments and three penthouses, many of which have already been sold. The apartments are almost complete so any buyers will be able to enjoy spending time there this summer or use them for rental income.

Again, there is a sauna, fitness room and swimming pool on site, and a free furniture pack is available until the end of May. Prices start at £42,000 for a first floor two-bedroom apartment with a sea view.

Seaview Court offers 18 stylish apartments in two buildings, set just a few minutes from the amenities of Golden Sands. Prices start at £48,000.

The company has also just launched the Palma Springs Holiday Club and Spa - a 200 apartment complex at  Alen Mak, Golden Sands.

As well as a range of  studios and apartments there will also be a natural spring water health spa, an on-site supermarket, restaurant, bars and shops.

Studios start from £29,995 and two-bedroom apartments are priced from £49,995.

The health spa will be open all year round and will offer low-cost facials and body treatments. The spa will also be open to residents of the all HHB Holiday Homes’ developments.

Stephen says: “Whether you are looking for a holiday home or to get onto the overseas property investment ladder, Golden Sands is a great choice. The health spa at Palma Springs will make the resort a year-round destination and will be popular for short breaks as well as longer holidays.”
